Community organisations are encouraged to submit applications for the next round of Fonterra Grass Roots funding before applications close next week.
The fund provides grants between $500 and $5000 to groups operating near any of Fonterra’s manufacturing and milk collection sites in Victoria.
Fonterra’s Stanhope site manager Jason Wright said the dairy industry was built from the ground up and the fund was one way to say thank you to those groups that gave their members’ time and energy to support their communities.
‘‘We believe in giving back by helping sustain healthy, vibrant communities around our sites and where our farmers are, and our Grass Roots Fund supports initiatives that make a real impact,’’ he said.
‘‘Over the years we have given a helping hand to many groups in the area, including the Stanhope CFA. Volunteer organisations like the CFA are vital to the safety and wellbeing of our regional community in northern Victoria.’’
Stanhope CFA member Peter Dent said funding helped purchase a thermal imaging camera which could locate hot spots and people in buildings.
‘‘The grant we received was crucial in purchasing this equipment so I would like to encourage other groups in this area to get their application in before the deadline,’’ Mr Dent said.
■Applications for the next round of funding close on Friday, December 15. Visit www.fonterra.
